One of the top winners at the 2021 Golden Globes was “Nomadland.” And, while the film has already taken home several awards, it’s not done just yet. The movie is also up for six Oscars at the 2021 Academy Awards, including best picture, best director (Chloé Zhao), and best actress in a leading role (Frances McDormand).

If you haven’t seen “Nomadland” yet, Hulu is here to help. The movie premiered in theaters and on Hulu simultaneously on February 19.

The film is based on the book “Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century.” The story centers on a woman, Fern (Frances McDormand), who loses her job due to the recession. As she searches for work on the road in her van, Fern hears stories from other nomads in the American West. The film features supporting actors who are actually nomads in real life, including Bob Wells, known for his YouTube channel CheapRVliving.

“Nomadland” is directed by Chloé Zhao, who won best director at the Golden Globes. Zhao’s win made her the first person of Asian descent to take home the honor of best director and the second woman to ever win the award. Her next film will be Marvel’s highly anticipated superhero movie “Eternals” starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, and Salma Hayek.

Reviews have been positive for “Nomadland.” The film has a “94% Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Insider critic Jacob Sarkisian gave the movie an “A-” grade in his full review.
